Expanded BridgeFest pulls in 18,000 fans

BAY ST. LOUIS -- About 18,000 visitors attended Bay BridgeFest over the weekend, making it the largest turnout in the event’s five-year run.
“It was a huge success,” said Bay St. Louis Mayor Les Fillingame. “It was probably the best community therapy I’ve seen since Hurricane Katrina.”

Bay Bridge Fest makes triumphant return

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - The gorgeous weather coupled with music and art from all over the southeast, made for an excellent day to go out and enjoy the Bay Bridge Festival. This year's Bridge Fest returned with more music, more activities and an extra day.

"We want to remind everybody that this is a totally free concert, and you ought to come on and have a great time because this is music that we have not had on the Gulf Coast, probably ever," Rosato said.

Growth of BridgeFest mirrors revival of community

LOUIS -- In 2007, it was a ceremony to mark the reopening of the Bay Bridge, held at the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club.This weekend, attendees will see what hard work, dedication and financial support can evolve into, officials said.  The Bay BridgeFest has been billed as a “mini-Jazz Fest.”

Volunteer Lee Seal was joined by Mike Rosato of Bay Rat Productions to bring in acts such as Rosie Ledet, Dread Clampitt, the Honey Island Swamp Band and the Voice of the Wetlands. You may not recognize the artists, but Rosato promises you’ll enjoy the music.

“A lot of people don’t know the names of these bands, but those that do can’t believe they’re coming to the Gulf Coast,” he said.

BridgeFest will feature sounds of Big Easy

By DONNA HARRIS BAY ST. LOUIS -- This year’s BridgeFest will have an all-star lineup of jazz, funk, rhythm-and-blues and zydeco favorites from New Orleans and will stretch the entire weekend to fit it all in.
Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, the finale act, will cap three nights of stellar performances, said Tish Williams of the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. “If you haven’t been here yet, this is the year to come,” she said. Read more . . .
